T20 World Cup 2024, Nepal and Oman qualify

Both Nepal and Oman qualified for the 2024 men’s T20 World Cup by winning the ICC Asia region qualifiers and advancing to the semifinals.

Oman’s ten-wicket victory over Bahrain was a convincing display of dominance. In the meantime, Nepal overcame a difficult chase against the UAE, winning by eight wickets to qualify for t20 world cup 2024

With his outstanding performance, Aqib Ilyas took four wickets at a cost of just ten runs. This was a major factor in Oman limiting Bahrain to 106 for 9. With almost six overs remaining in their chase, Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale, the openers, effectively ended the match.

Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane, two of Nepal’s spinners, bowled sensibly to keep the UAE to 134 for 9. Vriitya Aravind was able to score a half-century, but his fellow UAE batsmen did not provide much assistance. Aasif Sheikh, who opened for Nepal, was crucial in securing the team’s victory with an undefeated 64

Eighteen teams have already confirmed their places for the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies in 2019. Nepal and Oman are now among the qualified teams. After the Africa qualifier, which is expected to conclude later this month, the final two spots will be decided.

While Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka qualified based on their top-eight rankings from the competition’s 2022 edition, the hosts, West Indies, and the USA, have automatic berths. The next-highest-ranked teams in the format, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, also locked up their spots. Papua New Guinea advanced from the East Asia-Pacific region, Ireland and Scotland qualified from the Europe region qualifiers, and Canada earned their place from the Americas region.

UAE elected to bat in front of a boisterous crowd at Mulpani Cricket Ground. They got off to a fast start and reached 29 runs without loss in just three overs. But their progress was cut short when Sompal Kami removed the belligerent Muhammad Waseem and Khalid Shah was run out on the opening ball of the fourth over.

Asif Khan and Alishan Sharafu were two of Vriitya Aravind’s trustworthy suppliers during the UAE’s innings. Still, with five wickets between them, Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane forced their way into the rest of the UAE batting order. Rohit Paudel, the captain, was a great help to them and took one wicket in his one over of bowling.

Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel, Nepal’s opening pair, gave their chase a strong start, but Nilansh Keshwani struck in the third over. Nevertheless, Sheikh and Gulshan Jha formed a 41-run partnership, and with the help of his captain, Sheikh eventually led Nepal to victory.

With a well-earned fourth T20I half-century, Aasif Sheikh concluded his performance. Rohit Paudel made a fast 34 not out off 20 balls, which included two fours and two sixes.

After first qualifying in 2014, Nepal is making its second appearance in the T20 World Cup ten years later.
